Thiruvananthapuram: Revolutionary Socialist Party (Marxist) leader K.P. Sankaradas and his supporters have decided to join the Communist Party of India (CPI). In a statement here on Monday, Mr. Sankaradas said the decision was taken at a special meeting of party activists. The decision to join the CPI was prompted by the successive split in the RSP and frustration and inaction prevailing among the activists. If such a situation were to continue, there was every possibility that they would move away from the Left movement. His supporters felt they should continue to uphold the Marxist Leninist traditions and the meeting had come to the decision to join the CPI which had clarity in ideology, inner party democracy, besides upholding highest democratic values. The RSP(M) section would officially join the CPI at a function to be held here on August 23.
