Prakash Javdekar pooh-poohs KCR's claim on Telangana struggle

  • `I will not comment on statements made by those who lost their credibility'
  • Criticises policies adopted by the UPA Government in tackling terrorism

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made light of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders' decision to quit the Union Cabinet and sit on an indefinite hunger strike, saying that "any comment can be made only after it happens."

At a press conference here on Monday, party official spokesman and incharge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Prakash Javdekar refused to react to TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao's claim that the struggle for Telangana had reached a decisive stage and its party leaders were prepared to resign. "I will not like to comment on the statement made by those who have lost their credibility," he said. On the functioning of the UPA, he said that the policies adopted by the UPA were helping terrorism to become bold.

    CPI plays down `threat'

Tirupati Special Correspondent writes: Meanwhile, State secretary of the CPI K. Narayana has sought to play down the TRS threat. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Narayana said he neither perceived any threat to the Government nor foresaw any mass upsurge if the TRS pulled out.
