State agrees to debate on Poppalaguda land issue

It could be discussed along with other land issues, says YSR

HYDERABAD:
The State Government has agreed to debate in the Assembly the controversy pertaining to alienation to a private party, 200 acres of prime land at Poppalaguda here which was meant for refugees under an Indo-Pak agreement.
Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy gave an assurance to the effect while intervening in the matter during question hour on Monday.
He suggested that the Assembly could discuss the issue along with land transactions by Government on the city outskirts.
Earlier, Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao requested Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy to drop the question as the matter was sub judice.
The High Court was expected to deliver its judgment on a petition filed by the State Government.
