Health insurance for poor soon
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday announced a health insurance scheme for the poor to be introduced in two to three months to cover treatment costs, including major ailments.
Replying to the debate in the Assembly on floods and relief operations, he referred to the remarks made by Leader of Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu that the Chief Minister should have compassion and said that he had never rejected a single request of any MLA for assistance from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
He took a dig at Mr. Naidu wondering whether as Chief Minister he acceded the request of Opposition members.
Referring to the issue of congenital heart diseases among poor children, he said statewide camps were held and 5,500 children screened "because I had compassion".
