Charges him with misusing position

HYDERABAD:
The Telugu Desam Legislature Party (TDLP) has sought the dismissal of Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Ranga Rao and his son-in-law and State Representative in New Delhi Mallu Ravi for allegedly influencing the bidding process for a cooking gas agency.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, party MLAs Uma Maheswara Rao, Narendra Kumar, Narendra Reddy and Jogulu claimed that a private television channel's sting operation exposed the Minister and the representative directly making calls from the State guesthouse misusing their powers.
Threats alleged
They alleged that both of them held out threats to secure Bharat Petroleum gas agency for the Minister's daughter and demanded an inquiry.
YSR criticised
The leaders said it was surprising that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy preferred to remain silent on the issue.
They also referred to the way a Forest Department official was forced to withdraw cases of teakwood and red sanders smuggling booked against the Chief Minister's brother-in-law and Kadapa Mayor Ravindranath Reddy.
In another incident on Saturday, a ruling party MLA hurled abuses at the Khammam district Superintendent of Police for arresting his supporters.
In all these instances, far from taking action, Dr. Reddy was trying to shield them, they alleged.
