HASSAN: The Hassan Zilla Panchayat has prepared a Rs. 3.58-crore proposal to implement the Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) scheme in 12 most backward villages in Arsikere taluk in the district. Disclosing this to presspersons here on Monday, Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat F.R. Jamaadar said the PURA scheme had been envisaged by the Union Ministry of Rural Development to provide amenities in rural areas. Thirupathihalli, Bandihalli, Muddranganahalli, Geejihalli, Jajur, Kodihalli, Thirupathi, Henjagundanahalli, Katikere, Kerehalli, Muddanahalli and Gundakanahalli had been selected for the purpose, he said. He said that these villages had been identified on the basis of their backwardness. The selected villages were located with in a radius of 10 km from Arsikere. The population of these 12 selected villages was 8,652. While the estimated cost for providing adequate water supply to these villages was Rs. 92.77 lakh, the cost to be incurred on roads was Rs. 1.62 crore.
Funds
A sum of Rs. 1.04 crore was needed for providing other facilities, including education (Rs. 22.45 lakh), supply of power (Rs. 20 lakh), health (Rs. 5.20 lakh), electronic connectivity (Rs. 10 lakh) and infrastructure for marketing (Rs. 46.80 lakh), he said.
