NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Monday awarded the contract for general consultancy for Phase-II of the Metro Project to a consortium of five companies -- Pacific Consultants International (PCI), Parsons Brinckerhoff International, Japan Railway Technical Services, TONICHI Engineering Consultant and RITES Ltd. These companies had earlier provided the consultancy for Phase I of the Delhi Metro Project too. The agreement was signed by DMRC Director (Project & Planning) C.B.K. Rao and PCI Executive Managing Director Masayoshi Taga in the presence of DMRC Managing Director E. Sreedharan.
The general consultants will be helping the DMRC in project planning, programming, monitoring, quality assurance, especially in underground construction, signalling, telecommunication, automatic fare collection system,
Mr. Sreedharan described the agreement as historic as Phase II is going to be more challenging than Phase I with about 76 km of Metro network to be constructed in about four years.
