CHENNAI
: Chennai Collectorate has identified Kotturpuram and Pachaikal Veerasamy slum colonies to start the State Government's project to distribute free colour television sets for the underprivileged.
In a release issued on Monday, the Collectorate said arrangements were on to launch the project, coinciding with the birth anniversaries of Dravidian leaders Anna and Periyar that fall on September 15 and 17 respectively.
Collector R. Jaya will meet the committees constituted to overlook the distribution of colour TV sets at the Collectorate premises on Tuesday.
Colour televisions have already been stocked in the Mambalam-Guindy and Purasawalkam-Perambur tahsildar offices.
