Bismillah Khan's death condoled

HYDERABAD: The State Assembly adopted a unanimous resolution on Monday condoling the death of shehnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan and expressing deep sympathies to the members of the family.

A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to his memory.

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy who proposed the motion described Bismillah as a humanitarian who believed that service to humanity was service to God.

Leader of Opposition, N. Chandrababu Naidu said Bismillah had worshipped goddess Saraswati as a powerful expression of India's unity in diversity.
