`LeT operative' arrested, pistol recovered

HYDERABAD: Mohd. Ayub, an alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative was arrested on Monday.

He had received an American-made pistol from his associates, Mohd. Ibrahim and Shaik Shakeel, a year ago. He confessed that since the police arrested Ibrahim within three days of his receiving the firearm, he threw it in a well near his house. The police got a tip off about the weapon when they arrested Shakeel, also a resident of old city, recently. Based on Shakeel's confession, they raided Ayub's house and recovered the pistol from the well.

Ayub was remanded in judicial custody.
