Man tonsures wife's head for more dowry

HYDERABAD: A painter on Sunday allegedly shaved his wife's head for failing to get the additional dowry, which he had demanded

Police have launched a manhunt to nab Mohd. Yousuf of Hakeempet after registering a criminal case against him under Section 498-A (dowry harassment) and (dishonouring a person) of IPC following his wife Sameera's complaint on Monday. The couple got married eight months ago.

Trivial issues

"Soon after the marriage, Yousuf started harassing her on trivial issues. According to Sameera, her husband always accused her of creating problems," police said.

On Sunday night, he dragged her out of the house, thrashed her with an iron rod and tonsured her head.
