Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
The police on Monday solved the mystery behind the recent spree of thefts of copper from the domes of temples in Secunderabad with the arrest of four rag pickers.
The four arrested persons, who are all aged below 20 years, Balaraju, Raju, Shiva Naidu and Srinivas had been living on pavements in market area. "There are several old temples in the area ," market Inspector L. Satish Kumar said.
The first theft was reported at a temple in Gopalapuram. The gang struck at three other temples even as police were trying to narrow down on the suspects. Police stumbled upon one of the rag pickers, who had been carrying some copper in his gunny bag, during a routine check-up.
Based on his confession, the other three were arrested.
