SPIRIT OF ENTERPRISE: Ajayakumar and his granite stove.
Thiruvananthapuram: Ajayakumar does not have access to high technology or sophisticated research facilities. All he has is an enterprising spirit and a will to make things happen. These assets have helped him develop an LPG stove made of granite, which is gaining popularity among customers. The product is available through a few outlets in the city. Ajayakumar is afraid he would not be able to meet the demand, once sales pick up. "Making a granite stove was only a fancy at first. But once the product emerged, I thought it could be tried out in the market," he says. Customers are drawn by the slick looks of the stove. At 22 kg, it is a heavyweight compared to the metal versions. Being made of granite, it is easy to clean. It is priced at Rs.2,300. Ajayakumar says he has secured a patent on his product.
