Rupee ends lower


MUMBAI: The rupee on Tuesday closed weak against the U.S. currency mainly due to fresh dollar demand from oil companies after rise in world oil prices.

In quiet trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit opened low at 46.50/52 a dollar against 46.4550/4650 on Monday and after moving between 46.4900 and 46.5500, closed at 46.4950/5050.

The RBI fixed the reference rate for the U.S. currency at Rs. 46.52 and for the single European unit at Rs. 59.90. — PTI
