`Janardhan Reddy's disclosure will not affect Government'

Staff Correspondent

Government will complete its tenure, says Yediyurappa

DAVANGERE: The expected disclosure (in connection with the bribery charge) by Janardhan Reddy, MLC, on Wednesday will have no bearing on the coalition Government, said B.S. Yediyurappa, Deputy Chief Minister.

"Do not entertain the hope that the Government will fall and there will be a drastic political development," he told presspersons here.

Mr. Yediyurappa said the Government would complete its tenure (40 months) as the coalition partners had come to an understanding to that effect. "Nothing can create a misunderstanding among the coalition partners," he said.

However, the BJP was not against Mr. Janardhan Reddy revealing facts if they were genuine, he said. Mr. Janardhan Reddy could have discussed the issue in the party forum without discussing it on the floor of the House.

There was a way of doing things, he said and noted that he too would have appreciated him if he had done it properly. The party had suspended him for his "misbehaviour" and "grave indiscipline", he said.

To a question, Mr. Yediyurappa denied that either Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy or his father and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda had taken bribe from mine owners of Bellary. "It was a fabricated story to malign Mr. Kumaraswamy and an attempt to destabilise the Government by creating a rift among the coalition partners," he remarked.

Minister for Sugar S.A. Ravindranath and Jagalur MLA Gurusiddanagowda were with Mr. Yediyurappa.
