Five-wicket win for Bhavan's `A'

HYDERABAD: Bhavan's College `A' scored a five-wicket win over Loyola Academy in The Hindu Trophy U-19 cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

Good show by Sandeep

S. Sandeep, who struck 112 not out and then claimed four for 25, fashioned All Saint's High School's impressive 143-run win over Johnson Grammar School in the St. Andrews inter-school cricket tournament for the Louis Emanuel Trophy.

Pranav bags five golds

V. Pranav Kumar of Vasavi Engineering College ruled the pool, winning five gold medals in the Osmania University swimming championship. He clinched honours in the 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly and 200m individual medley events.

Inter-school basketball

The finals of the inter-school basketball championship organised by Hyderabad District Basketball Association will be held at Secunderabad YMCA on August 23 from 12:30 p.m., according to a press release.

Kargil Sports Festival

YMCA of Greater Hyderabad will organise the eighth YMCA Kargil Victory Sports Festival for high school students from August 30 to September 1. Competitions will be held in tennis, basketball, volleyball, kho kho, kabaddi, karate and chess. For details, contact 27564670.

Raju is manager

G.J.J. Raju, a Talent Resource Development Officer of the BCCI, has been appointed as administrative manager of the Indian under-19 team touring Pakistan during September. Mr. Raju was a former vice-captain of Andhra Ranji team and is presently a joint secretary of the Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association.
