Madurai: Ayya Nadar Janakiammal College, Sivakasi, won the Madurai Kamaraj University Champion Trophy inter-collegiate kabaddi tournament defeating Arulmigu Palaniandavar Arts College, Palani, 40-21 in the last match of the four-team round-robin league here on Tuesday. A.J. College, Sivakasi, emerged winner with five points (two wins and a draw), while APA College, Palani, finished runner-up with four points (two wins and a loss). Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thever College, Usilampatti, was third with two points (two draws and one loss) and MSS Wakf Board College finished fourth with one point (one draw and two losses). Earlier results (league): AJ College, Sivakasi drew with PMT College, Usilampatti 17-17; AJ College, Sivakasi bt MSS WB College 37-18; APA College, Palani bt MSS WB College 37-18; APA College, Palani bt PMT College 38-25; PMT College drew with MSS WB College 31-31.
Mohamed Sathak CE wins
Mohamed Sathak College of Engineering, Kilakarai, defeated PSNA College, Dindigul, 5-4 in a tie-breaker to win the Anna University Zone-9 inter-engineering football tournament in Ramanathapuram on Monday. At the regulation time, the teams were level l-1.
The results: Final: Mohamed Sathak CE 5 (Panchurajan 2, Arun Kumar, Meeran, Venkatesh) bt PSNA College 4 (Venn Thomas, Chitravel, Varun Mohan, Vijay Ganesh).
Clean sweep
Coimbatore cornered glory with a clean sweep of six titles in the six-day Tamil Nadu Electricity Board inter-zone women's meet, which concluded here on Tuesday.
The results: Badminton: Final: Coimbatore bt Vellore 2-0 (Mini Kumari bt Seetha Lakshmi 21-9, 21-8; Usha Devi bt Rajeswari 21-4, 21-6). (Semifinals): Coimbatore bt Trichy 2-1; Vellore bt Erode 2-0. Junior athletics
The Madurai District junior athletic meet for under-14, 16, 18 and 20 boys and girls will be conducted by the MDAA at the Madura College ground from 6 a.m. on August 27. The selected athletes will participate in the 21st inter-district junior meet to be held here from September 1 to 3.

Hat-trick by Nijandhan
A hat-trick by Nijandhan helped St. Paul's Higher Secondary School, Chennai, defeat St. Antony's HSS, Nagapattinam, 4-0 and enter the semifinal of the ninth annual Bells Trophy State-level inter-school hockey tournament here on Tuesday. Parthiban scored the other goal.
Defending Champion St. Mary's HSS, Dindigul, also entered the semifinal with an emphatic 7-2 win over St. John's HSS, Palayankottai.
Cuddalore downs Vellore
Cuddalore defeated Vellore 3-0 in the men's team event in the State senior inter-district badminton championship organised by the Dindigul District Badminton Association at Akshya Vidyalaya indoor Stadium in Dindigul on Tuesday.
