``Scientific temper missing''
Special Correspondent
KOLKATA:
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Monday said scientific temper continued to be missing among certain sections of society. He was commenting on reports of devotees rushing to temples in the city to watch idols of deities allegedly sipping milk from spoons and glasses put to their mouths.
"It is unfortunate that a section of society is still taken in by illogical views and lacks scientific judgment," Mr. Bhattacharjee told presspersons.
Devotees formed long queues outside a Shiva temple in the Kidderpore area on Sunday night as word spread that the deity was sipping milk.
People should be more conscious and alert against such rumours, he said.
