Governor plays
good Samaritan
Granddaughter Manish Raza, who is studying in Bangalore, approached the Governor on Monday to help her reach Varanasi. In a goodwill gesture, Mr. Chaturvedi agreed to meet the airfare for her trip out of his discretionary grant. The flight from Bangalore to Lucknow was delayed, and to ensure that Ms. Raza got to Varanasi in time, the Governor, through the Raj Bhavan in Lucknow, arranged for a car for her journey to Varanasi, an official release said. Medical, dental casual vacancy round ends
The casual vacancy round for Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy (ISMH) courses for special categories (students with disabilities, NCC and sports) will be held on Wednesday. Eligible candidates with disabilities should come to the CET Cell at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, NCC candidates at 12 noon and sports category students at 2.30 p.m. The casual vacancy round for these seats under various reserved, rural, Kannada medium and other special categories, including GMR and GMK, will be held on August 24. For general merit and all reserved categories, the casual vacancy round will be on August 26 and 28. Staff Reporter

Inaugurating the office building of the Kannada daily Samyuktha Karnataka here on Tuesday, Mr. Yediyurappa said newspapers should present the facts and allow readers to draw their own conclusions.
