BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (MPSACS) in partnership with the National Service Scheme and UNICEF has launched the State's first Red Ribbon Club for students to spread public awareness about the issue of HIV/AIDS. At a special function here on Tuesday, the Project director of MPSACS, Salina Singh, administered an oath to the club members and said that they would support the society's initiative when it comes to spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS.
Programme
Similar Clubs would be formed in different colleges, she said, adding that young people should come forward and build up public awareness on this vital issue. She said the State has 1,806 cases of AIDS and as young people were getting infected, more and more young people should be involved in this programme.
Communication Officer
The Communication Officer of the UNICEF office for Madhya Pradesh, Anil Gulati, said information is the key in prevention of HIV/AIDS. "If we wish to make the world fit for children, we need to involve the younger generation and this is the one such step. It is the young people who can act as agents for change." The programme was coordinated by Shraddha Bose and there was a technical presentation on the issue of HIV and AIDS by U. S. Yadav.
