SRIKAKULAM: Joint Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah on Tuesday stressed the importance of coordination among various departments to complete land acquisition for various irrigation projects being executed in the district.

Reviewing land acquisition exercise at his office here, he pointed out that counting of the number of fruit-bearing trees, valuation of structures on lands to be acquired would have to be done by different agencies. Evidently angry at some officials trying to pass on the buck, Mr. Veerabrahamaiah said: "it is not the place for arguments, you have to sort of things at your level. Why phone connections are given to you. If there is anything beyond your jurisdiction, you should bring to my notice."

"I will give you a fortnight time to set the things right, failing which I will take stringent action," the Joint Collector said. He also suggested officials of the Irrigation Department to address to higher- ups and get money for RR (Relief and Rehabilitation) package.

Owing to lack of funds, the process was being delayed. The Revenue Department had completed the process of acquisition and ready to hand over lands to the Irrigation Department for execution of works, but the later had to deposit the required amount.
