Udupi Nagarika Samiti to hold rally

UDUPI: The Udupi Nagarika Samiti on Tuesday decided to conduct a rally against what it termed "more than necessary acquisition of land" for the widening of the Bannanje-Kadiyali stretch on the Udupi-Manipal road, on August 24.

A press release issued by the samiti here said it opposed the construction of the road on the Bannanje-Kadiyali stretch .Its construction would require the razing of a large number of houses, commercial complexes, and other buildings on the stretch.

Many families would be affected by the widening of the road.
