Party changes mode of protest

Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE: Dakshina Kannada district unit of Samajwadi Party has decided to drop its plan of "stop transport stir" to protest against the bad condition of roads in the district. Instead, the party has decided to stage a protest in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner here on Friday. S.P. Chengappa, general secretary of the party's district unit, regretted that the district administration had failed to respond to its one-week deadline to repair the roads in the district.

The party would launch the "stop transport stir", if the district administration failed to initiate corrective measures after the festival season was over.
