Spot-billing plan will achieve target: HMWSSB

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board on Friday maintained that the spot-billing plan introduced this month would achieve the set revenue target notwithstanding `the inherent shortcomings and teething problems.'

Giving out the August figures, HMWSSB managing director K.S. Jawahar Reddy said they had already touched the 47 per cent mark of the target within a fortnight. He said new initiatives such as monthly spot billing would take time to stabilise. "We are monitoring its progress on a daily basis in coordination with the agencies, including providing technical and other infrastructural support."

He said procurement of spot billing machines was a problem. Saying the trials for online billing and collection by AP-Online were successful but faced certain technical snags relating to connectivity from the cell operators when implemented on a mass scale. "It is finalising with various cell operators for multiple gateways for speeding up the process."
