Buses from Vypeen seek entry into city

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The Ernakulam District Bus Operators' Organisation, Vypin-Paravur taluk unit, has said buses from Vypeen are facing discrimination, as they are not allowed to enter the city.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, representatives of the organisation said the buses were restrained on the ground that it would contribute to deterioration of traffic. At the same time, hundreds of new vehicles were registered and plying in the city, they said. They said only 37 trips would be added from Vypeen.

They alleged that the operators in the city were opposing the Vypeen buses because they apprehended that their income would be affected. There was false propaganda that Vypeen buses were not interested in plying in different parts of the city, they said. The buses from Vypeen were paying Rs.5,000 as fees for the operation up to the High Court Junction. The organisation was ready to pay additional fees for permission to ply within the city, they said.
