Hyderabad: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy said here on Tuesday that TRS leaders K. Chandrasekhara Rao and A. Narendra might have resigned from the Union Cabinet to apply `a little more pressure on the Congress'. Dr. Reddy said as for the Andhra Pradesh Congress, it had left the decision to the AICC president Sonia Gandhi. "Meanwhile, we will concentrate on development of the region in all respects," he added. While Telugu Desam felt the Union Ministers had no option but to quit, the BJP saw in their move a "desperate attempt to salvage their credibility". Senior Telugu Desam leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy said the TRS leaders have realised rather belatedly that they have lost all credibility. For the same reason, he said their resignation would not have any impact. He said the Union Ministers did nothing for Telangana during the last two-and-a-half years except for enjoying power. They could not get special package from the Centre like the one for Vidarbha. "Their achievement is nothing but a big zero".
Apology
On the other hand, BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya, making light of the resignation, said, in fact, the TRS leaders should tender an apology to the people of Telangana for forging an alliance with Congress, knowing fully well its past record of deceiving the people of the region. "For two-and-a-half years, the TRS did not open its eyes. They realised the folly of allying with the Congress too late in the day," he said.
