NEW DELHI: The father, brother and uncle of a 24-year-old woman from Palwal in Haryana have been arrested along with a "contract killer" on charges of getting her killed at Roop Nagar in North Delhi on July 13 as they did not approve of her relationship with a young man. According to the police, the body of the deceased was found near the railway track at Roop Nagar on July 14, with her face disfigured. She was identified as Kamlesh, daughter of Deep Chand, a resident of Palwal. Investigations revealed that Kamlesh was in love with a man, but her parents objected to the relationship. Kamlesh then eloped with her lover Subahsh Saini. Suspecting that it was a case of honour killing, the police picked Deep Chand for questioning. During interrogation, he allegedly broke down and confessed to having got his daughter eliminated as she was having an affair with a person he did not like. After she ran away with him, his relatives got a case of abduction and criminal assault registered against her lover and got him arrested. He is still lodged in jail. They tried to force Kamlesh to speak against him in court, but she refused. Deep Chand then allegedly decided to get her killed. Deep Chand allegedly revealed that as planned, he sent Kamlesh to her uncle Kanti Prasad's place at Model Town in North-West Delhi. Kanti Prasad, who was also allegedly roped into the conspiracy, had through one of his acquaintances, Dharmendra, hired a criminal, Pramod, from Uttam Nagar in West Delhi for the job. Deep Chand and his son Subhash came to Delhi on July 13. On the pretext of catching a train to Palwal, they along with Kanti Prasad took Kamlesh near the railway tracks where Pramod and Dharmendra allegedly overpowered her and strangled her. The police said Deep Chand had promised Rs. 5,000 for the job. At his instance, the police have arrested Subhash, Kanti Prasad and Pramod. A hunt has been launched for Dharmendra.
