dated August 24, 1956: State Bank Chairman

Mr. H.V.R. Iengar, at present Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Bank of India in place of Dr. John Matthai who had resigned last June. Mr. Iengar will take up his appointment soon. The tenure of Dr. Matthai's office is due to expire on September 30. He will, however, avail himself of a month's leave with effect from September 1.
