World festival to showcase talents of children

NEW DELHI: Imagine the youth of the world dressed up in their national costumes performing in Delhi. Now this is all set to become a reality as the 7th International Children's Festival of Performing Arts is held at various auditoriums in the Capital from August 30 to September 3.

The festival is being organised jointly by the Ryan Foundation and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in association with Sangeet Natak Akademi, the University of Cambridge International Examinations and the National School of Drama.

A series of workshops, seminars and performances, the 7th International Children's Festival of Performing Arts will showcase the talents of children from 17 countries. There will be 250 performances including ballets, one-act plays, street theatre, puppetry, folk dances and many other forms of performing arts.

The festival will see performances by groups from Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, France, Cuba, Poland, Switzerland, Nigeria, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Ghana and Slovenia, while trainers from Romania, China, Turkey, Cameroon, Finland and Portugal will present an array of performances with Indian children. The opening ceremony of this world festival will be held at Kamani Auditorium here.
