CHENNAI: Combined Districts skipper R. Sathish scored 135 to put his side in the driving seat against Hyderabad on day two of a third-round Mindteck-Buchi Babu encounter here on Wednesday. P.V. Manikandan struck a 91-ball 107, but couldn't get Kerala past Gujarat's first innings score, while Mohd. Faiq took five as Andhra Pradesh gained control against Madhya Pradesh in other third-round matches. Sathish's 209-ball knock contained 11 fours and three sixes. He shared in partnerships of 77 with E. Suresh, and 91 with S. Suresh. G. Vignesh contributed a crucial 54-ball 53 down the order as Combined Districts totalled 326 for nine at Mayajaal. Hyderabad, which lost a wicket in its second innings, trails by 90. Manikandan's century (8x4, 6x6), and Raiphi Gomes's 63 (145b, 12x4) were the major contributions in Kerala's 295. Sree Kumar Nair made 42. Left-arm spinner Jagdeesh Patel took four for 97 to help Gujarat take a lead of 64 in the first innings. Andhra leads by 250 with a further 15 overs to extend it. Faiq and Y. Laxman Kishore (four for 50) combined to restrict Madhya Pradesh to 186. Varun Singh top-scored with 51 (125b, 7x4). Andhra then recovered from 31 for three, courtesy an unbeaten 109-run partnership between Y. Gnaneswara Rao (62 batting, 89b, 8x4) and V. Sandeep (51 batting, 62b, 3x4), in its second innings. At ICL-Gurunanak, TNCA President's XI went past Rajasthan's first innings score of 316, to lead by 36. Praveen Srivatsan, who made a 132-ball 67 with ten fours and a six, put on 87 for the first wicket with Thalaivan Sargunam (39). Sunil Viswanathan (66, 115b, 4x4) and R. Ramkumar (58, 70b, 6x4, 1x6) added 104 for the fourth wicket in 23.2 overs. Syed Mohamed contributed 66 off 75 balls (6x4, 1x6). Rahul Kanwat took four for 93. SPIC-TNCA XI will chase 152 from 45 overs for victory at SRMC turf on Thursday. C. Hemanth Kumar (65, 136b, 8x4) and Dinesh Karthik (68, 78b, 10x4, 1x6) put on 113 for the third wicket, as SPIC-TNCA led by 70 in the first innings. Leg-spinner Akshay Wakhre claimed four. Vidarbha scored 221 for nine in its second innings Vikrant Deshpande made 54 (61b, 8x4), while skipper Ranjit Paradkar chipped in with 45. Off-spinner R. Ashwin dismissed four Vidarbha batsmen. Ramkumar 58, Syed Mohamed 66, Rahul Kanwat four for 93). At Mayajaal: Hyderabad 225 and 11 for one in two overs vs Combined Districts XI 326 for nine in 90 overs (R. Sathish 135, G. Vignesh 53). At CPT-IP: Gujarat 359 and one for no loss in two overs vs Kerala 295 in 87.3 overs (P.V. Manikandan 107, Sree Kumar Nair 42, Raiphi Gomes 63, Jagdeesh Patel four for 97). At SRMC turf: Vidarbha 184 and 221 for nine in 45 overs (Vikrant Deshpande 54, Ranjit Paradkar 45, R. Ashwin four for 77) vs SPIC-TNCA XI 254 in 71.4 overs (C.
