Profiling test for students on the cards

CHENNAI:
A series of tests to assess the academic skills of students in areas of critical thinking, comprehension and problem solving is to be conducted across the country.
To be conducted jointly by Macmillan India and Education Assessment Australia of the University of New South Wales, the International Assessment for Indian Schools (IAIS) is a diagnostic profiling test that can provide an insight to the performance of students of the same group against their peers in India and abroad.
It can be taken by students from Class 3 to Plus-Two in English, Science and Maths and Class 3 to Class 10 for computer skills.
At a seminar held on IAIS for about 100 school principals in the city recently, Matt Henderson of University of New South Wales and Sanjay Sethi of Macmillan India urged the schools to motivate their students to use this test to provide skill based training. The fee is Rs.135 for each subject up to two subjects and Rs.125 each subject for those who take up more than two subjects.
IAIS 2006 will be held in several South Asian countries, besides Mauritius, Iraq and Kuwait. The registration (only through respective schools) closes on October 5. The examinations will be held on November 3-4. Further details and downloadable sample papers long on to www.iais.emacmillan.com.
