SN, MG clinch titles

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SN College, Chempazhanthy, (91 points) and MG College, Thiruvananthapuram, (75 points) won the titles in the men's and women's sections respectively of the Kerala University aquatic meet which concluded at the Water Works Swimming pool here on Wednesday.

Twelve new records were set on the final day. But the day clearly belonged to M. Sreeju of MG College, Thiruvananthapuram, who broke a 23-year-old record in 200m breaststroke.

Sreeju clocked 2:46.49s to erase Sreekumaran Nair's old mark (2:51.00) set in 1983 from the record books. K.C. Sreejith continued his gold rush by winning five individual gold medals on the final day.

Saranya dazzles

In the women's section, Saranya S. Nair hogged the limelight by breaking two long-standing records from the books in women's 400m freestyle and 800m freestyle races respectively. SN College, Chempazanthy won the men's water polo title by defeating MG College, Thiruvananthapuram, 13-5.
