CHENNAI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption has told the Madras High Court that prima facie materials are available against a District Consumer Redress Forum president and that a case may be registered. A submission to this effect was made by the government advocate Hasan Mohamed Jinnah when a criminal original petition, filed by J. Subramaniam, came up for hearing before Justice R. Regupathi. The petitioner contended that R. Aparna, the Chennai (South) District Consumer Redressal Forum president, indulged in corrupt practices and amassed wealth disproportionate to known sources of her income. Despite several complaints, police did not register any case against her, he said. On Monday, the government advocate told the court that a preliminary enquiry had concluded that prima facie materials were available against Aparna.
