Four workers hacked at Shakthikulangara fishing harbour

Staff Reporter

KOLLAM: Four workers were hacked in a clash between rival trade unions at Shakthikulangara Fishing Harbour early on Wednesday.

The police said the injured, Valerian, John Paul, Sabu and Wilson, had been hospitalised. They were from the United Trade Union Congress-B (UTUC-B), trade union wing of the Revolutionary Socialist Party-B (RSP-B).

A dispute over loading work with the UTUC of the RSP led to the clash.

The violence affected auction of fish before the police brought the situation under control in the harbour.

The Shakthikulangara Police have registered a case.
