KOLLAM: The Kollam Residents Apex Council has alleged that lethargy on the part of the Kollam Corporation is the main factor delaying the commissioning of a garbage plant for the city. The council passed a resolution in this connection at a meeting attended by the office-bearers of the various residents associations in the city on Wednesday. The resolution said that while the Corporation was over-zealous in renovating the Municipal Town Hall, no interest was being shown for realising the garbage project, which was hanging fire for the last two years. The previous Corporation Council had completed the formalities for setting up the plant. But the new council was still engaged in carrying out studies for the purpose. As a result, garbage was being piled up in the city, posing health hazards.
