NELLORE: District Collector M. Ravi Chandra will attend the International Disaster Reduction Conference (IDRC), which will be held from August 27 to September 1 in Davos, Switzerland. The IDRC will address different kinds of risks such as natural hazards, technical as well as biological and chemical risks besides pandemics, terrorism, climate change etc. Almost 1,000 participants from different spheres across the world would be attending the conference, Mr. Ravi Chandra told The Hindu on Wednesday. The conference has been planned to ensure that valuable lessons are learned about disaster risk reduction. Moreover, specific recommendations that need to be implemented by industry, federal agencies and academia to control disasters would be drafted after the conference, he said.
Organisers
The conference is being jointly organised by United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Global Alliance for Disaster Reduction (GADR), and Global Disaster Information Network (GDIN).
