NEW DELHI: Recent terror strikes in different parts of the country where the alleged involvement of Bangladeshi nationals has come to light will be brought to Dhaka's notice during the Home Secretary-level talks from August 24 to 27. Briefing reporters on the eve of their departure to Dhaka for the talks, Joint Secretary (Northeast) Rajiv Aggarwal and Joint Secretary (Border Management) H.S. Brahma said India would seek Bangladesh's cooperation in dealing with the problem. Mr. Aggarwal said evidence of the involvement of Bangladeshi nationals in recent terrorist incidents and reports on their interrogation were already presented to Bangladeshi authorities.
Involvement noted
While the two Home Ministry officials did not identify the terrorist incidents, sources said the involvement of Bangladeshis was noticed in the Ayodhya terror strike last year and in the July 11 serial blasts in Mumbai. Home Secretary V. K. Duggal will lead the Indian delegation and his counterpart Saffar Raj Hossain, the Bangladesh team. The last round of Home Secretary-level talks was held here in October 2005. Mr. Aggarwal said security-related issues, fencing along the border leaving 150 yards on both sides, cross-border movement, problems of enclaves and the presence of Indian insurgent groups in Bangladesh would come up for discussion.
