Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday ruled out banning colas in the State after a Delhi-based NGO claimed it had found high level of pesticide residues in it. Answering reporters' queries here, Capt. Singh said, Such reports have come out thrice in the last five years, he said. Supporting cola companies, the Chief Minister said, ``I have been drinking Coke since 1960. I am healthy.'' On the ban imposed on serving of Cola in the canteen of the Punjab Assembly, Capt. Singh said that was the decision of the Speaker. ``We have no control on the use of pesticide in vegetables, fruits, etc, and urea in milk. It is a tragedy that even cauliflower is being dipped in pesticide to maintain its white colour,'' he said, adding that there was a report that even mother's milk has large quantities of pesticides. -- PTI
