HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi described as `bogus document' the pre-poll agreement copy released on Wednesday by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy here on which Union Minister A. Narendra had purportedly signed stating "we accept this content." Talking to press persons after TRS legislators took an oath in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue in the Assembly premises that their agitation for achieving statehood would be peaceful, party MLA, N. Narasimha Reddy urged Dr. Reddy to stop the `false propaganda,' apparently referring to the agreement. The MLAs staged dharna in front of the statue. The agreement had reproduced the Congress Working Committee's resolution noting that there were many valid reasons for formation of separate States in Vidharba and Telangana.
One more SRC
The matter could be best addressed by another State Reorganisation Commission to look into all issues involved, it said. Mr. Reddy said the then APCC president D. Srinivas and a senior Congress leader G. Venkataswamy had assured TRS that they would abide by the report of the First SRC. He accused Congress president Sonia Gandhi of `backstabbing' the cause of Telangana and declared the party would seek a people's verdict and expose Dr. Reddy's `conspiracy.' Later, the TRS legislators paid floral tributes to the Telangana martyrs memorial near the Assembly. Mr. Rao administered an oath to the MLAs to re-dedicate themselves to the struggle for achieving Telangana. They raised anti-Sonia Gandhi and anti-YSR slogans.
Hunger strike
From the memorial, the MLAs proceeded to Osmania University campus where three students launched an indefinite hunger strike expressing solidarity with the fast undertaken by TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao. In their address to the students, Nayani Narasimha Reddy and T. Harish Rao described the injustice to education sector in the integrated State. Mr. Vijayarama Rao and some other MLAs individually called on Congress legislator, P. Janardhan Reddy, who is down with chikungunya at the NIMS.
