ICRISAT ties up with Florida varsity

HYDERABAD:
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and the University of Florida, USA launched a partnership with a short course on applications of geographic information systems in land resource management for practising professionals, extension officers and students.
The partnership offers courses for working professionals and students in a flexible mode, allowing them to accumulate credits at their pace and pay fee that is affordable in their national currencies. ICRISAT and the university jointly award certificates for the courses.
New strengths
ICRISAT Director-General William Dar said the collaboration brings new strengths to delivering short courses offered by the leading American varsity. The partnership will develop collaborative educational programmes using innovative technologies to support extension, outreach, certificate and in-service training programmes.
It would also build individual and institutional capacity through scientists and student exchange and training programmes and provide locally and regionally relevant inter-disciplinary short courses for professionals, Dr. Dar said in a press release issued here on Wednesday.
