Local bodies would develop civic amenities around the historic monuments by using the funds
JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has allocated Rs.5.5 crore to 12 urban local bodies under the heritage conservation scheme for upkeep of monuments and creation of new facilities. Minister of State for Local Self Government Pratap Singh Singhvi said here on Wednesday that the largest allocation of Rs.2 crore had been made to the Jaipur Municipal Corporation for constructing a global art square at the historic Jaleb Chowk in the Walled City and developing parking facility in Aatish Market. An allocation of Rs.1-crore was made to Dungarpur for repairing the roads in the heritage zone. Mr. Singhvi said Rs.25 lakhs each had been allocated to Sawai Madhopur, Fatehpur, Jhunjhunu, Chittaurgarh, Churu, Jhalawar, Banswara and Deeg; Rs.35 lakhs to Chhabra; and Rs.15 lakhs to Jaisalmer. The Minister pointed out that the local bodies would develop civic amenities around the historic monuments by using the funds with the objective of keeping the towns clean and promoting tourism. Mr. Singhvi said Rs.10 crores had been allocated to 22 local bodies in the State during the previous year.
