UNITED WE STAND: National Students Union of India activists on dharna in Patna on Wednesday in protest against "failures" of the Nitish Kumar Government which has completed nine months in office.

PATNA: Congress on Wednesday brought out a `chargesheet' against Bihar's nine-month-old NDA Government accusing it of failing on all fronts.

The chargesheet said the killing of 1738 people and 487 cases of rape had exposed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's claim of establishing the rule of law within three months of the alliance coming to power.

The chargesheet, released by chief spokesman of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) Prem Chandra Mishra at a day-long dharna organised by the NSUI which was christened as Protest Day, charged the Bihar Government with ``swindling'' several crores meant for the poor.

Accusing the State Government of ``misleading'' the people by making ``false promises'', Mr. Mishra alleged that lakhs of rupees were being ``misused'' for decorating the houses of ministers and purchasing luxurious cars for them. Claiming that though a scam running into Rs.20 crore under the Bihar State Cooperative Housing Federation had come to light, the State Government had failed to ensure prosecution of the officials involved in it. Referring to allotment of several plots of land to film-maker Prakash Jha, Mr. Mishra, who had also filed a PIL in the Patna High Court seeking a CBI probe into it, alleged that the State Government had thrown all norms to the wind to ``benefit Jha by alloting the land at throw-away prices''. ``Roads are in bad shape, hospitals are not in good condition, teachers are being victimised and beaten up by police while the State Government remains a mute spectator'', he said.- PTI
