IAIS for school students

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: A series of tests to assess the skills of students in the areas of critical thinking, comprehension and problem solving will be conducted across the country.

To be conducted by Macmillan India and Education Assessment Australia of the University of New South Wales, the International Assessment for Indian Schools (IAIS) is a diagnostic profiling test that can provide an insight to the performance of students of the same group in India and abroad.

It can be taken by students from standard III to Plus-Two in English, Science and Maths and standard 3 to Class 10 for computer skills.

At a seminar recently, Matt Henderson of University of New South Wales and Sanjay Sethi of Macmillan India urged the schools to motivate their students to use this test to provide skill-based training.

The fee is Rs.135 for each subject up to two subjects and Rs.125 for each subject for those who take up more than two subjects. IAIS 2006 will be held in several South Asian countries. The registration (only through respective schools) closes on October 5. The examinations will be held on November 3 and 4.
