PALAKKAD: Farmers in the district have demanded a support price of Rs.10 for a kg of paddy. A meeting of the Deeseeya Karshaka Samajam held here on Wednesday demanded that the Government fix Rs.10 as procurement price of paddy. Samjam president Polpully Vasudevan said the cost of production of one kg of paddy came to Rs.6. So farmers should get at least Rs.10 a kg to make paddy farming remunerative. Otherwise, they would be forced to leave paddy farming.
