The widening of M.G. Road from the Rama Rao lamp to the VJT Hall has changed the face of the Palayam commercial area. The congested environs and traffic jams have given way to wide roads and smooth vehicular movement. The traders in the locality who resisted eviction for over 20 years are now busy decking up their new shops for the Onam season. The arched gateway leading to the Connemera Market is the only conspicuous structure that remains of the old layout. Even the temple in front has been renovated. Work on widening the road has picked up and is expected to be complete soon. For the people, it could be the best Onam gift.
