Condolence meet for a poet

The Malabar Christian College (MCC)organised a meeting to remember Ayyappa Panicker.

Dr. Panicker had studied for his intermediate from 1946 to 1948 at MCC. The Malayalam Department of the college organised a rendering of his poems on the occasion.

K.V. Thomas of the department, who had a close relationship with the poet, recalled the instance when Dr. Panicker was overcome with emotion when he was sent his own application form and transfer certificate from school to the college, from the MCC records. The documents, which were part of the archives at the college, was found out by Dr. Thomas and sent to Dr. Panicker. "It might have stirred special affinity in the mind of the poet towards the college to such an extent that a generally reluctant poet contributed an article on his MCC days to the book published during the retirement of my colleague, S.C.James," he says.
