The Pune facility will make flywheel magnets and ignition systems It will cater to the Far East, Europe and other global markets
MUMBAI: Ducati Energia of Italy has established a joint venture company (JV) with Kinetic Communication for manufacturing auto-electrical components. The company, to be named Ducati Energia India Pvt. Ltd., will be located in Pune and will make flywheel magnetos, CDI, ignition systems, regulators and ECU for two and three-wheeled vehicles. The new company is a 50:50 joint venture and Ducati Energia has a call option to acquire the partner's stake in the future. It will set up its own manufacturing facility in Pune with an initial employment of up to 200 people. The facility will not only meet the domestic demand but can also potentially become an important outsourcing hub for Ducati for the Far East, Europe and other global markets. The joint venture will make Ducati products with technology from Ducati to cater to the improving technology demands of the Indian market. Speaking to The Hindu, Manish Motwani, Managing Director, Kinetic Communications, and also Managing Director of Ducati Energia India, said the initial investment in the joint venture would be around Rs. 12-15 crore.
