BEA Systems to expand India operations

Special Correspondent

Largest R&D facility in Bangalore

BANGALORE: BEA Systems, a leader in enterprise infrastructure software, plans to increase its investments and expand operations in Bangalore, company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Alfred Chuang, said here on Thursday.

"BEA has seen tremendous growth in India with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) gaining momentum as the technology approach that enables business transformation and optimisation," Mr. Chuang told reporters here after opening BEA's newly expanded facility here.

Mr. Chuang said the Bangalore facility would be developed as the largest R&D centre outside the United States in the coming years as part of the expansion plans.

The expanded operations included plans to base key WebLogic Integration (WLI) development areas in the Bangalore centre. The WLI was a key component of the unified SOA platform from BEA, he said.

BEA was looking to set up a solutions centre in Bangalore to focus on supporting the company's long-term expansion plans in the country and the Asia Pacific region.

At present, BEA had a product development and customer support facility here, he added.
