Vaiko denies instigating violence

Special Correspondent

SALEM: Insisting that he had not stated Tamil Nadu would become another Kashmir as charged by a few, MDMK general secretary Vaiko has said that he would never act against the national interests.

Reiterating that he only warned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by pointing out that any assistance extended to Sri Lanka would only lead to a `Kashmir-like' situation in Tamil Nadu, the MDMK leader categorically stated that he had neither instigated any violence nor likened the situation to Kashmir. Taking pains to explain the context in which he referred to the Kashmir issue, Mr. Vaiko, while addressing his cadres here, claimed he had just informed Mr.Singh that assistance either military or any other type would only send wrong signals to the Tamil youth whose minds were "turbulent, as they belong to a martial race."
