Probe ordered against DIG

Special Correspondent

PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday ordered an enquiry into a case lodged against the Railway DIG Ajay Verma in connection with a land dispute following which he had gone underground.

Mr. Kumar heard Mr. Verma's wife, Shampa Verma, when she called on him, in the presence of the Home Secretary and four senior IPS officers. She complained that her husband had been falsely implicated and urged him that DGP Ashish Ranjan Sinha be disassociated from the matter. Mr. Sinha was not present at the hearing.

The ADG CID, Anand Shankar, has been asked to look into the matter and submit his report within a couple of days.

A warrant had been issued by the Hajipur court after the Tirhut Range IG, Sunit Kumar, had in his supervision note upheld the accusation that Mr. Verma had interfered in a land dispute case.
